Delaware Solar Incentives in 2026: Verify the Program First
A useful Delaware incentive review starts with the current program administrator, eligibility date, serving utility, project ownership and the person who receives each benefit. A sales estimate is not an approval.

The 2026 starting point
Delaware’s Green Energy Program is open only to Delmarva Power customers and has its own solar application rules. DNREC launched additional solar-plus-storage offerings in August 2026. Municipal and cooperative customers can have different programs, so the utility on the bill must be confirmed before assigning a benefit.
Do not assume a 30% federal homeowner credit
The IRS currently says the Residential Clean Energy Credit is not available for expenditures made after December 31, 2025. A proposal for a 2026 project should not subtract a federal homeowner credit unless the taxpayer’s own records and current tax guidance support it. Ask a qualified tax professional about prior expenditures, carryforwards and the customer’s specific facts.
Keep every benefit on its own line
- Program name, administrator and current application link.
- Applicant, income or property requirements and the date eligibility is tested.
- Whether the system owner, homeowner, contractor or third party receives the benefit.
- Reservation, installation, inspection and final-document deadlines.
- Utility interconnection, net-metering or export-credit treatment.
- SREC or renewable-credit ownership and any assignment in the contract.
- What happens if a reservation, credit or certificate is denied or delayed.
Separate rooftop, community and bill-assistance paths
Rooftop solar places equipment on the property. Community or shared solar uses an off-site facility and a subscription. Utility assistance is a separate benefit for the bill. They can have different eligibility, contracts, fees and cancellation rules. Compare the path that matches the property instead of treating every program result as a rooftop installation lead.

Verify the company and the written promise
Check the contracting business in Delaware’s public construction-contractor registry. Check the responsible electrical professional separately in the Division of Professional Regulation license lookup, and confirm whether a funding program requires a participating contractor.
Match the registered contractor, responsible electrical professional, equipment, permits, interconnection, incentive paperwork, payment schedule and change-order rules to the written proposal.
If a salesperson includes an incentive in the savings calculation, require the official program name, application owner, amount or formula, deadline, present availability and denial risk in writing.
