Hiring a solar company in San Luis Obispo

Solar companies in San Luis Obispo get the permit in about a minute: after SolarAPP+ approves the design ($35 for solar, $60 with storage), the contractor pays the City's fees in InfoSLO and the permit is issued automatically. Central Coast Community Energy supplies the city's generation and PG&E delivers it, with 3CE's true-up every December. Compare at least three written bids built on your own 3CE and PG&E bill.

San Luis Obispo's five permit steps

The City lists the path in order. The contractor registers or signs in to SolarAPP+, submits the design and pays SolarAPP+'s review fee: $35 for a solar application or $60 for solar plus storage. It then registers or logs in to InfoSLO, the City's permit portal, and submits the permit with the required documents. Once the permit fees are paid online, the permit is issued automatically in about a minute.

The last step is the inspection, requested in the same portal. The City says requests received by 5:00 p.m. may be scheduled for the following business day. Ask your installer who will make the request and who will be on site when the inspector arrives.

    A comparison to ask for

Ask each San Luis Obispo bidder whether it is filing a solar-only or a solar-plus-storage SolarAPP+ application, since the review fee differs ($35 or $60) and so does the equipment. Then ask which month each true-up falls in, PG&E's and 3CE's December one, and what the model expects each to show.
