Hiring a solar company in Livermore
Solar companies in Livermore file through the City's SolarAPP+ process and connect to PG&E, while Ava Community Energy supplies generation for the whole city and adds its own export bonuses and battery incentives on top of PG&E's. The first thing to check in any Livermore bid is whether it counts those Ava credits correctly. Get three written proposals built on your own Ava and PG&E bill and compare them line by line.
Ava's SmartHome Battery program
Ava runs SmartHome Battery for customers installing solar with a battery, adding a battery to existing solar, or enrolling a battery they already own. It has two parts: an installation rebate whose amount depends on household income, battery size and the capacity you agree to share with Ava's virtual power plant, and participation payments paid every three months for five years. Ava keeps a list of qualified installers and aggregators.
If a Livermore bid includes a battery, ask whether the company is qualified for SmartHome Battery, whether its price already subtracts a rebate you have not been approved for, and how much of the battery's capacity the proposal assumes you will share during grid events. Those events use stored energy you might otherwise want for backup.
What a Livermore quote needs to explain
| Check | Ask each bidder |
|---|---|
| Design revisions | Tie the quoted equipment and layout to the final approved plans; require revised pricing and production when they change. |
| Roof responsibility | Price any roof repair, access or electrical work explicitly instead of leaving it as an allowance. |
| Billing calendar | Show both Ava generation and PG&E delivery settlement assumptions for the account. |
A comparison to ask for
The first quote may become a different project after the roof survey: fewer panels, a different inverter or a revised battery location. Ask for the revised price, production estimate and approved plan together. A signed original estimate does not tell you what the revised system will produce.
Verify the company behind the Livermore quote
Match the business name and license number on each Livermore proposal to the CSLB record, then use our contractor verification steps, the quote comparison guide and the PPA, loan, lease and cash comparison. What you pay the utility today is on the Livermore rates and bills page.

Livermore solar quote questions
How do I find reliable solar installation companies in Livermore?
Start with the CSLB license lookup for each company you are considering, then ask for three written proposals built on your own Ava and PG&E bill and the same roof layout. Ask who files the City's SolarAPP+ permit and who handles revisions, and, if you want a battery, whether the company is qualified for Ava's SmartHome Battery program. This page does not rank installers.
Does Ava pay more than PG&E for solar exports in Livermore?
For new systems on the Solar Billing Plan, Ava adds $0.025 per kWh for exports from 3 to 8 p.m. (customers not on CARE or FERA) and $0.01 per kWh for CARE and FERA customers, on top of the credits PG&E also provides.
What should happen when my Livermore solar design changes?
Ask for updated equipment, output and pricing together with the revised permit documents. Livermore publishes a specific process for revisions to approved SolarAPP+ permits.
Can I compare a competitor’s Livermore case study with my quote?
Use it to ask questions, not as your savings forecast. Your roof layout, usage, billing plan and contract price must drive your comparison.

Ask for a competing quote
Start with the utility on your bill and what you pay in a typical month. Contact details come after that. Submitting does not guarantee that a provider will quote your project.

Before you send anything
- What this is
- California Rate Relief is a private referral service. It is not a contractor, does not install or finance anything, and is not a utility, a government agency or an assistance program.
- What happens after the form
- Your project details are recorded for referral to a solar provider. The provider decides whether it can help and what it can offer; availability, design and price are determined after its own review.
- How you are contacted
- Read the consent wording before submitting. Your inquiry includes contact details for follow-up about the project; a provider decides whether it can serve it.
- Using the site without submitting
- The calculators, bill comparisons and checklists on this site work without contact details, and nothing on this page requires a submission.
